You don't actually have that 'right' to decide who arrests you. The FPF allowed an outside officer because they were involved in the charge.
If you are arrested, keep your mouth shut and demand a lawyer. If you end up serving jail time as a result of not being given a lawyer, wait til you get out, and find a lawyer to sue their asses.
The cartoon needs changing to show Irving saying they will only publish stories that do not make the cops, the crown prosecutors or the politicians look bad... the cops work closely with all of them on the same rotten agenda.

If you pick the wrong lawyer, That is your fault and your responsibility! It certainly isn't society job to fix for you.
Why should all of us say the system is faulty because you were dumb enough to hire a lawyer that didn't have your best interest? I see no reason why we should. Not our fault. Not our problem.

9.58 is correct and most people in this province's criminal court are dumped by their legal aid lawyers a day before trial, unethically co-erce their clients to plead guilty when they have not committed a crim, then dump them if they don't, or simply say they won't get legal aid if they don't face jail time - just like Charles, who already had been in jail when legal aid told him that, and Jenn't husband where you don't get legal aid for a by-law offence yet he was threatened with four days in jail for a parking ticket. 12.28 - you really are ignorant if you think anyone can choose their legal aid lawyer!!! There is no choice and see above how they treat their "clients". I also "hired" a lawyer for family court matters who allowed me to be cheated of a great deal of money so she could keep creaming big fat legal fees for years more than the proceedings should have gone on and - hey! The law Society of New Brunswick doesn't care and the judges (ex-lawyers) have helped to cover up the obvious fraud with the help of our good friends the FP Farce, so don't lecture people about hiring good lawyers - it is not. In New Brunswick the term "Good Lawyer" is an oxymoron.
That's your fault and only your fault for hiring a bad lawyer. You should have done your research before bring, as you would when hiring anyone, be it a carpenter or a snow plow driver. With lawyer fees as high as they are, it is even more important to do your research and hire the right lawyer.
I'm sure at some point in your life while performing your job you've cost the employer more than it should have. Be it from working slow, taking a lnger break or whatever. All of its have t one point, either intentional or by accident.
As for legsl aid lawyers. Well one gets what they pay for. If that is the type of lawyer they want,instead of hiring one themselves, then that again is their fault for their choices. I know I know, they can't afford to hire one. Well who's faults that? Again theirs.
I'll update that then, get a lawyer from OUTSIDE the province. That's what they did in, where was it, Grand Manan.
More importantly, contact Charles. He posts any case against 'the system' but so far we have pretty mixed evidence (except in the panhandling case). Until this stuff becomes public, nothing will change, and change is never easy. Lots of 'anonymous' people stating what happened, but again, without EVIDENCE all this is hearsay.
That's not covering for the government, and this IS a problem for government, but Charles seems to not want to bother his pal Dave for some reason. If legal aid is not doing its job, there needs to be evidence of that, and the finger has to be pointed at the government.

However, the Saskatchewan provincial government is making changes to make it easier to put a lien on vehicles and other such things since jail time in such cases is a waste of resources. The above quote is from a story about a mother of three who has been paying off tickets from her student days, then police decided to cart her to jail for 90 days, and her husband had to quit his job to watch the kids.

For those who don't, its worth noting that it is 'policy' in the US for canadians who are stopped even for minor traffic violations to be held in jail until a bond is posted. Yikes.
But again, we only have one side of this story. I think MOST people would agree that threatening jail over a recent parking ticket is overkill. But that story has to be proven first before people start talking about 'the system'.
