Does anyone have any information????
Please tell!!!
Please tell!!!
This guy from Ontario wants some info on the New Brunswick Legislature!!!
Can you help him????
Charles,
I came across your (two) blog by chance and was delighted. I was amused and informed in ways I never thought I could be about your province.
I'm working on a project for my a local community paper, looking at trends in provincial legislature. Due to the nature of New Brunswick, information is a bit harder for me to obtain in Ontario (where I reside).
Your blog has tons of information, and I'm hoping you could tell me a bit about your legislative assembly.
I'm specifically wondering, if recently (this year to 10 years ago) there has been any curtailing of the parliament. Has legislative sittings been reduced? Has fall or spring sittings been reduced? Has there been any other funny business of that sort.
I'm not sue where I could find information of that sort, and it would be greatly appreciated if you could help me with this!
Thanks in advance,
Adam Carroll

Is Kenneth Maybee ok??? I hope he didn't die???
SAD UPDATE -
Well...this is not good!!!!...The last time I saw Kenneth was during the Highway to Heroes Celebrations.
...and I noticed he was a little different....< Took a stroke a couple of years ago > he told me that he wasn't feeling well....I was too busy looking for the hundreds of Cops who were in the area.
I wanted to interview Kenneth but he quickly left the area...:(
I have known Kenneth close to 35 years and he was a true Gentleman!! We meet in Saint John while I was involved in getting a Good new Clean Air Act for New Brunswick.
One thing that Kenneth didn't enjoy about this Blogger was that I was a smoker!!!
He would always encourage me to STOP SMOKING!!
I might add that he was VERY happy when I quit smoking over two years ago....:)
Yes...I am very sadden of the lost of my Friend. He was a joy to be with. Very smart and polite individual.
We have just lost a great Hero!!! A Giant for Cleaner Air in this Province.
My Deepest Sympathy to his Family and Friend!!!
KENNETH H. MAYBEE
(1937 – 2012)
http://www.mcadamsfh.com/Obituaries/74162/
On Wednesday 17 October, Ken Maybee passed away in tragic circumstances. Ken’s family is totally devastated at his sudden passing. Born Kenneth Hendrie Maybee in Montreal on 15 June 1937, he is survived by his wife Joan (Ingram) of 50 years and his two children, son Larry (Megan) living in Australia and daughter Kim (Gord) living in Nanaimo, BC. and four dearly loved grandchildren; Ryan, Nicole and Erin Maybee (Australia) and Molly O’Brien (Nanaimo). He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Mikey "they were buddies".
Ken was the youngest of seven children – four boys and two girls – Donald, Theresa, George, Floyd, William and Edna. He is survived by brothers Floyd (Joan) of Alberta, William (Gladys) of California and Edna (John) Tyler of Victoria, BC. He was predeceased by his parents Harry Jacob and Lillian, brothers Donald, George and sister Theresa. He is survived by his many nieces and nephews.
Ken lived a 39 year career in the Canadian forces. He joined the Armoured Corps as a boy soldier in 1954. He quickly rose through the ranks, excelling at every course he attempted and appointment he was given. He served with distinction with the Royal Canadian Dragoons (RCD) in Petawawa, Germany and CFB Gagetown and with the 12e Regiment Blinde du Canada (12e RBC) in Valcartier, Quebec. During his military career, Ken served three different tours with NATO in Germany, four in Egypt and one in Cyprus. His notable appointments included Sergeant-Major of several Squadrons, in 12e RBC and at the Armoured School at the Combat Training Centre, CFB Gagetown. He was Regimental Sergeant-Major of 12e RBC, Chief Warrant Officer at Army Headquarters in St. Hubert, Quebec, and Command Chief Warrant Officer of Canadian Forces in Europe and the Middle East. In the latter stages of his career, Ken took his commission to move back to NB and as a Captain was appointed Detachment Commander of all Cadets in NB and PEI.
Ken received many awards for his accomplishments in the military. In 1977 he was appointed to the Order of Military Merit, the second highest order administered by the Governor-in-Council, at the grade of Member (MMM), for distinctive merit and exceptional service. He was later upgraded to the level of Officer of the Order of Military Merit (OMM), a rare occurrence. Both awards were presented by the Governor General at Rideau Hall.
Ken Maybee retired from the Canadian Forces in 1993 and took up the position of Executive Director (later President and CEO) of the NB Lung Association, one week after his retirement from the Canadian Forces. In typical fashion, Ken took the Lung Association to new heights, re-defining its focus and direction. He put the NB Lung Association on the national map, with leading, high profile campaigns on clean air, anti-smoking and other environmental issues. As President and CEO of the NB Lung Association, Ken was a leader, innovator and tireless advocate for the Lung Association and the causes he championed. This is typical of the man he was.
Kenneth H. Maybee
Ken was named to the Order of Canada in July 2012. He was due to receive this prestigious award, as well as Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, on 23 November from the Governor General at Government House in Ottawa. Ken was named to the Order of Canada in the category of Social Services, for his efforts to improve air quality and the health of Canadians. His efforts have been described as follows "Mr. Maybee’s personal crusade to make human health the driving force for air quality policies and legislation has been extraordinary". He helped develop air quality standards, including the air quality health index used in many cities. He was instrumental in the introduction of the NB Clean Air Act and the Smoke-free Places Act, which, among other things, bans smoking in vehicles containing children under the age of 16. Locally, he helped the City of Fredericton organize the Canada Day parade and made the parade green by not allowing motorized vehicles to take part.
Ken was an avid sportsman. In his younger years he enjoyed playing basketball, volleyball, tennis and curling at a competitive level, and he was a long-standing regular at the Fredericton YMCA. More recently, he enjoyed playing "Texas hold’em" poker with the boys twice a week.
Ken was a long-time resident of New Maryland, a proud Frederictonian and a pillar of the local community. He was a fine New Brunswicker and an outstanding Canadian. He was charity-minded and always active in community organizations. In his earlier years, he was active in the Lions Club in Oromocto. Throughout his life he was very active in the Masonic Order, the Shriners and was a member of Royal Canadian Legion. Ken was a friend and mentor to many; he constantly looked to help those less-advantaged members of the community. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and the many people who admired and respected him.
Ken was cremated at McAdams Funeral Home. A memorial service to honour Ken’s memory will be announced at a later date. Donations in Ken’s memory may be made to a mental health charity, if so desired.

The Race for President of the United States of America - Mitt Romney years with the Mormon religion truly showed his true Colors during the debate!!!!
Months ago, I predicted that the media will go after Mitt Romney Religion and this would be the downfall of his campaign!!!
But I am very surprise that it's been VERY quiet on the campaign trail about his connection with the
Mormon religion.
Did you know these idiots only accepted Blacks in their religion around 20 years ago.
From what I remembered - Someone in Utah told his fellow Mormon's that he received a message from God that Blacks should be accepted in our religion!!!
There was a huge uproar and weeks later this guy threw his whole family and himself off an balcony on the 12th floor and that was that!!!
In those days Blacks would go to Heaven as Slaves only!!!
I believe Mitt's racist attitude showed this during the debate!!!
I just found this video 19 minutes ago -

A fisherman's views on Poor Graammmaarrrreeee.....
Expanding on Mikel’s point, in the mid 90’s I fished as a commercial fisher of the Island of Campobello for three years, most of my fishing compadres, where illiterate so the knowing the rules of grammar was not an issue. The employers of that industry did not really give a rat’s ass whether or not you could speak or grammatically express yourself in writing. Actually it’s rare that resumes are used, when they are used it’s mostly for captains positions and those resumes in the form of the seafarers log book which tells what boat you worked on and how many hours you worked . Most people that are hired in the industry are either known in the fishing community as a good worker, if you are not known then you go and meet the employer old school, one on one. What the employer wants to know, can you handle a boat, can you plot a course on a chart, read a compass, do mechanical, hydraulic repairs when required, speaking or writing was a minor issue, because it isn’t speaking and writing that catches fish and resolves, sometimes life threatening problems out at sea.
My biggest blow to my ego was this sixteen year old who could plot a course on a chart, working in current, wind speed variables, the young fellow had grade three education, but he was doing the plotting out of his head and was able to do in within seconds. I could do the same but for me I had to use trigonometry and resolving force vectors to include the effect of wind and current, which took considerably more time. This same young fellow could repair diesel and gas engines, as well as do any minor or major repairs to the hydraulic systems, yet his writing and speaking according to your standards was atrocious. But really, if shit happen out in the bay of Fundy with I would rather have this young fellow on board rather than someone who could speak and write correctly.
The average fishermen fishing off the larger boats averages about 120,000 per year, not bad for not being able to write, spell and speak according to established rules of grammar.
The sad thing is the urban centers where grammar is an issue they are many talented and skilled individual that are denied employment because of their lack of skill or knowledge of grammatical rules, yet these same people will outperform many of those who write and speak properly.

Van Angels Group Meets with Federal Minister of Transport!!!!!:

Van Angels Group Meets with Federal Minister of Transport:
Mothers Encouraged by Movement in Regulatory Process
Mothers Encouraged by Movement in Regulatory Process
"We are encouraged by our meeting
with Minister LeBel," said Isabelle Hains of Bathurst. Hains' son,
Daniel, was 17 years-old when he was killed along with six other
teenaged players from the Bathurst High School Phantoms basketball team
and the coach's wife. Hains was in Fredericton with Stella Gurr of
Nanaimo, British Columbia. Gurr's 26 year-old son, Michael, was killed
in a 15-passenger van rollover near Brandon, Manitoba eight months after
the Boys in Red tragedy and the mothers have since led the call for
banning the vehicles across Canada.
"We feel that Mr. LeBel and his Provincial and Territorial counterparts across Canada have taken our concerns seriously," said Mrs. Gurr, adding that she and Hains have "have hope that student and small group transportation in Canada will be undergoing some positive changes in the near future."
The mothers met with Mr. LeBel, the Deputy Minister and other senior staff members of Transport Canada who were in Fredericton for the Council of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Transportation annual conference. Two years ago, Hains and Gurr, along with other transportation safety activists, met with the former Minister of Transport, Chuck Strahl, and many of the provincial and territorial Ministers of Transport when they were in Halifax for the Council's annual meeting. At that meeting, the mothers requested that Transport Canada include crashworthiness testing in its safety review of vans used for student transportation that had been initiated by his predecessor, John Baird, in June, 2010.
"The testing by Transport Canada confirmed our beliefs that fatalaties and injuries are greater in 15-passenger vans," said Hains. "Every parent wants their child to be safe and this study proves what we have been saying all along - that 15-passenger vans should not be used to transport students and they should not be used to transport anybody else, including small groups such as children in daycares, kindergarten, church and sports groups as well as seniors."
Gurr says that vehicles should be manufactured with a "reasonable chance of occupant survivability. It is the key to saving lives."
Issues raised by Hains and Gurr during the meeting with Minister LeBel included a proposed "national approach" to safe transportation of students and small groups that came out of the findings of the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators (CCMTA), which presented their report today to the Deputy Ministers and Ministers of Transport.
Another important issue is the proposed new definition of Multi-Function Activity Buses (MFABs) as a sub-category of yellow school buses. Mr. LeBel told the mothers that he has written to his provincial and territorial counterparts asking for their feedback on the new definition.
The CCMTA report was held in camera, but will be made public in the future. "At this point, we don't know what the CCMTA's recommendations are, nor do we have a timeframe for their implementation," said Hains. "But we believe that positive changes to student transportation safety will be coming in the very near future. New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Quebec have already dealt with the issue: now it is in the hands of the provincial and territorial Ministers of Transport."

I wrote this blog in February 2007!!!! Dan Bussieres have spent all kinds of money since then!!!!
Found this old blog!!!

You could say that I was on an ADHD trip yesterday.
Every since I came face to face with Dan Bussieres last week on the ground of the New Brunswick Legislature.
It was the first time that I realize that the Sergeant At Arms meant business.
He spent all kinds of money to have me fired from the job at the Legislature.
Someone made a lot of money.
It’s been a chess game ever since I first landed in the Capital in 2002 and he seems to wish the game to continue?
He let it known that if I set foot on the ground of the Legislature? I would be charge with Assault!!!
But I do have one question?
The day before I had this picture taken with the Speaker of the House Eugene McGinley
All the commissionaires were all present but nothing happen?
I might add they have a video film with me on the ground?
Why don’t they charge me and get it over with?
There’s one thing that I wanted to make very clear yesterday so therefore I had to meet with the Chief of Police Barry MacKnight
The Police were called last week and I believe it was a cop who shouted at me to come over? < I’m not sure>
One thing is certain? If I’m charged on a false accusation? < just as in Saint John? >
I have to tell the Police Chief what’s going on?
I emailed the Police Chief so I’m on record for warning the Fredericton Police Force in advance.
Of course, there would have to be a trial and those four individuals will have to step forward and testify < I think so? >
But the main reason that I banned comes directly from the Premier’s office therefore I had to move fast.
I made a few political contacts and maybe? Just maybe we can put this issue behind us and move on?
I’m ready to put this like water under the bridge but I don’t believe Quebecois Dan Bussieres will see it this way?
I don’t want this issue to come public but I’m dealing with very high powerful people here who insist that the battle continue.
The right to know the reasons < I only know of one!!! > must be known!!!
I must find out who those four individuals are?
If you’re a newcomer? Read a story that was in the media concerning the ban!
Stay tuned!!!!

Pauuvvrree Grammaare and bod speelliinggg shoouulldnt maaattererrr!!!!
Charles, 'Good' writing and spelling are indications of just that-being educated in how to write and spell-or how to use a word processor. Which is no education at all. That's the first thing resume readers learn-that MOST of the stuff written on resume's is BS usually fluffed by a professional writer (or software maker).
We get your point, you want charles to have better grammar and spelling (something I've said myself ages ago). I replied because of the statement "get educated THEN become an activist", because that is absurd. Charles knows more about activism than virtually anybody in NB, and whether we like it or not, he has what many writers NEVER find-their own style. And, I must say, its often quite entertaining. And, he knows his audience.
For my part, I don't care about spelling and grammar, I object to the whole IDEA that somehow what church Dan Brussiere's goes to has something to do with what Charles thinks is fascism at the legislature (particularly given the fact that Charles is a devout Catholic-a church so fascist in its history it makes the Nazi's look like amateurs).
IF Charles were less extreme in his behaviour (or writing) I think he'd be far better at convincing people of ANYTHING. He convinced me of the plight of the poor LONG ago, and spelling and grammar have ZERO to do with it. If you look at his support you can see how many people feel similarly.

Tim Ross - There's 19 homeless left looking for homes after Rooming House Fire In Fredericton!!!!
Made this one this morning -
New Brunswick’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Eilish Cleary says “Unless proper controls are put in place there is a risk of spoiling any benefits from economic gains through adverse health outcomes.
Reprinted by permission from The Left Eye
Many countries of the eastern world have banned hydraulic fracturing with a few that are welcoming the technology, those countries who are considering fracking as an alternative revenue generator are still trying to answer the question are the risks of hydraulic fracturing worth the economic benefits gained from such endeavours?
Both reports presented to the Government of New Brunswick from Dr. Louis LaPierre, and Dr. Eilish Cleary (Chief Medical Officer of Health) makes a multitude of recommendations to the province should the province decide to proceed with Fracking in New Brunswick, however both reports have failed to answer the global question. Are the risks greater than the benefits?
Dr. Cleary discuss the potential economic benefits that could augment the tax returns for the province, however she did point out that the information is not present to determine whether or not it would benefit just a localized economy or the collective economies of all communities located in the province. In her report she also adds the following potential negative effects of a boom economy, which she coins as the “Boomtown effect”.
She explains:
During Dr. Clearys inquiries she found that contrary to the popular belief that “One could expect that as a result of economic gains due to increased income, energy and employment, there would be an indirect positive benefit in health status as a result of this industry, however clear evidence to support this was not found in the course of this review.” Instead she found the contrary, which she describes as the “ Boomtown effect”.
The reports argues that there are still considerable holes, gaps in the knowledge base to support the exploitation of shale as either benefit or detriment to the affected communities.
The report makes thirty recommendations to the province of New Brunswick nested within the following categories.
1. Protection of health and community wellbeing related to changes in the social environment
2. Protection of health related to changes in both the social and physical environments
3. Protection of health related to changes in the physical environment
4. Protection of future generations (boomtown effect)
5. Implementation and oversight
The question remains to be answered; will the provincial government accept and act on these recommendations?

These can include increased rates of crime, drug and alcohol abuse, sexually-transmitted infections (STIs), and domestic violence; inadequate supply and quality of housing; increased cost of living; increased community dissatisfaction; increased mental health and social services case loads; increased hospital admissions; insufficient infrastructure; and insufficient capacity in public services, including policing, local government, social services, and health care.”

Crude: The Real Price of Oil (2009)!!!
Three years in the making, this cinéma-vérité feature from acclaimed filmmaker Joe Berlinger (Brother’s Keeper, Paradise Lost, Metallica: Some Kind of Monster) is the epic story of one of the largest and most
controversial environmental lawsuits on the planet.
The inside story of the infamous “Amazon Chernobyl” case, Crude is a real-life high stakes legal drama, set against a backdrop of the environmental movement, global politics, celebrity activism, human rights advocacy, the media, multinational corporate power, and rapidly-disappearing indigenous cultures. Presenting a complex situation from multiple viewpoints, the film subverts the conventions of advocacy filmmaking, exploring a complicated situation from all angles while bringing an important story of environmental peril and human suffering into focus.
The landmark case takes place in the Amazon jungle of Ecuador, pitting 30,000 indigenous and colonial rainforest dwellers against the U.S. oil giant Chevron. The plaintiffs claim that Texaco – which merged
with Chevron in 2001 – spent three decades systematically contaminating one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth, poisoning the water, air and land. The plaintiffs allege that the pollution has created a “death zone” in an area the size of the Rhode Island, resulting in increased rates of cancer, leukemia, birth defects, and a
multiplicity of other health ailments.
They further allege that the oil operations in the region contributed to the destruction of indigenous peoples and irrevocably impacted their traditional way of life. Chevron vociferously fights the claims, charging that the case is a complete fabrication, perpetrated by “environmental con men” who are seeking to line their pockets with the company’s billions.
The case takes place not just in a courtroom, but in a series of field inspections at the alleged contamination sites, with the judge and attorneys for both sides trudging through the jungle to litigate. And the battleground has expanded far beyond the legal process. The cameras rolled as the conflict raged in and out of court, and the case drew attention from an array of celebrities, politicians and journalists, and landed on the cover of Vanity Fair. Some of the film’s subjects sparked further controversy as they won a CNN “Hero” award and the Goldman Award, the environmental equivalent of the Nobel Prize.
Shooting in dozens of locations on three continents and in multiple languages, Berlinger and his crew gained extraordinary access to players on all sides of the legal fight and beyond, capturing the drama as it unfolded while the case grew from a little-known legal story to an international cause célèbre. Crude is a ground-level view of one of the most extraordinary legal dramas of our time, one that has the potential of forever changing the way international business is conducted. While the environmental impact of the consumption of
fossil fuels has been increasingly documented in recent years, Crude focuses on the human cost of our addiction to oil and the increasingly difficult task of holding a major corporation accountable for its past
deeds.
Is the First Wesleyan Church in Fredericton playing a role Fascist Tyrant Dan Bussieres Sergeant-at-Arms of the New Brunswick Legislature way of thinking????
