The Fredericton Canada Day Committee (formerly Civic Pride) is pleased to present the 19th Annual Fredericton Canada Day Canada Day Celebration!

Once again we will be presenting two stages of entertainment. As always we will have our main stage in Officer's Square showcasing the best in local family entertainment spanning multiple genres.

This year we will also, weather permitting, have a second stage on the north side of the river in Carleton Park; traditionally a popular spot to watch the fabulous fireworks display that caps off our event each year.

We hope you'll join us early this year starting at 5:30pm for some excellent local performers.

Fireworks Go-Go Gymnastics (http://www.gogogym.com/) will be setting up inflatables for the kids in Officer's Square again this year! They will be operating from the start of the event until sometime in the evening. As always, there will be birthday cake in Officer's Square after the opening ceremonies! Rogers Television will be broadcasting live from Officer's Square to all of NB from 8:00pm until 11:00pm.

That's a great headline, if it's not a spoof, it would make sense when you look at all the security measures that have been put in place down at the old legislator building.

Personally I am starting the see Dan Brassieres showing behavioral patterns that would be associated with Paranoia Schizophrenia, or at the very least exhibiting delusions of Grandeur.

People get all horned up over the potential medically expensive injuries that may result from not wearing a bicycle helmet. Yet will tolerate the vast costs involved in "Protecting the Legislator" where the likely hood of attack is extremely, extremely remote. Seriously, historically, how many times have there been situations where the legislator or its occupants health and safety has been compromised by extremists.

In my fifty years of living in Fredericton, I cannot think of one incident that would warrant this kind of security overkill.

It is remotely possible that sometimes in the distant future that some leftest militant extremist group may come about who have the capabilities of doing harm to the legislator and those working inside the building, however the chances are greater that you will bit hit by a purple and pink poka dotted bus traveling at exactly 20 km in the middle of officers square, and that the resulting injuries, will leave you a brain dead quadriplegic.

The moneys spent on security for non existent threats could be better spent in helping New Brunswick than these delusional, chicken shit, wussies leaving in a fantasy world where they are so important that people are after them. ... Yeah right!

All you need is a couple steriod knuckle dragging neanderthals with 23 inch arms,, thats all the protection you need the rest is overkill.
