It was for the opening of the Currie Centre you bonehead. Better kick your sources in the ass again.

Happy Birthday Bradside...thanks for the fireworks eh.

So Charles if this is true then did I, a City of Fredericton Citizen tax payer, pay for this 'unpublicized' event?

If so then this is completely inappropriate and a misappropriation of city funds.

I am not a prude but this is beyond nuts.

If Councillors approved of this then they should be given a choice. Pay for this out of pocket or be charged for theft of tax payer money.

I hoped an investigation is launched and who ever approved this expenditure is forced to pay or go to jail.

So the city can afford to spend $50,000 of taxpayers money on a private fireworks show for the mayor.

Couldn't that money have been spent on the Food Bank?

Couldn't that money have been spent on clothing the homeless?

Couldn't that money have been given back to the Frederictonians, the rightful owners, as a rebate on their taxes?

Couldn't that money have been spent on hiring a new full time employee who could generate tax revenue?

In a time of economic hardship and governments preaching fiscal restraint, I find this private celebration using public funds a disgrace.

I am with Citizen 403976. An investigation needs to happen ASAP.

This is crazy we can not afford to spend money on this. I would like to know whos idea tihs actually was. I think its time the mayor and the city council is showed the door, enough is enough and its time for a change

Come on Charles. I posted earlier what this was for. Why don't you publish the truth for a change? You're attacking the mayor unfairly. He has nothing to do with this.

I agree, I would like to know where the money came from. few people knew about it(I for one did not). so it sounds like it was almost a private showing for the mayor Councillors and their friends.

If the city is going to spend money like that on the Mayer's birthday, it should have be an open invention to all citizens and should have been publicized.

If it turns out to have been funded privately, then good for them(but I am sure a donation to charity would have been better.

Charles do some real reporting and find out where the money came from!

This is so much bs, it's unbelievable. Tell the truth Charles. Why are you deliberately stringing these people along and running the mayor through the mud? Geez, go on Twitter. The mayor spells it out right there. Then you can apologize to him.

The fireworks were for the grand opening of the Currie Centre at UNB which is where they were launched from.

If it was the city then they would have set them off by the water like they do every time they do fireworks.

Charles, the most believed reporter! Proved.

Fishergirl said...

I heard the fireworks were for the opening of the Currie Center at UNB...however if it's true that it was a surprise for the Mayor's birthday then I'm agreeing with Jack of York and think there should be an investigation. Something doesn't seem right though...this display was also better than what we saw for Canada Day in Fredericton...

Mrs currie paid for fireworks ....dumbass's not the city....It was her private show.a....

Who you gonna call? said...

The fireworks were paid for by Richard Currie in connection with the opening of the new building on campus.

Anonymous said...

or do some reporting and find out that it was actually for a movie that is being shot within the city.....jeez people

Anonymous said...

you are all dumb as sin if you think this is true

Anonymous said...

This was not put on for any birthday, it was thrown by UNB for the construction of the new Currie Building.

Anonymous said...

Charles! Get your story right!!! The fireworks were at UNB for students NOT by the City and NOT by the Mayor. GET IT RIGHT!

I heard that the City flew in Stephen Harper for the occasion. He has been a good Mayor, and a great family and citizen. A deserving Senator.

Very sad decision by someone, but we can't blame Brad this time, but this is terrible disgraceful....$50,000 thats more than alot of people's yearly income !!

Anonymous said...

Perhaps city council paid for it themselves out of their pay...lol since it was there idea and the public wasn't aware of it til it was too late....

don't worry, people. the fireworks weren't for Brad and they didn't cost the city a dime.

it was for the opening of the Currie Center.

Anonymous said...

the fireworks weren't for Brad Woodside's birthday. they were to mark the grand opening of the Currie Center. don't worry, the city didn't pay for it.

Anonymous said...

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...can you spell gullible?

Anonymous said...

I wonder if Charles is refusing to approve comments that reveal the truth: Dick Currie's wife paid for this, to celebrate the ridiculously excessive Currie Centre.

Charles promised me he would tell everyone about his joke. He forgot. So let me say, I had nothing to do with the fireworks, nor did the City of Fredericton.

The Mayor.

NEW BRUNSWICK
REGULATION 85-6
under the
MUNICIPALITIES ACT
(O. C. 85-45)
Filed January 28, 1985
Under sections 14 and 19 of the Municipalities Act, the
Lieutenant-Governor in Council, on the recommendation
of the Minister, makes the following Order:
1 This Order may be cited as the Municipalities Order -
Municipalities Act.

www.gnb.ca/0062/acts/acts-e.asp#GlossM

THE CITY OF FREDERICTON THE CITY OF FREDERICTON
5(1) The city called The City of Fredericton is continued.
5(2) A portion of the local service district of Hanwell,
being an area contiguous to The City of Fredericton, is
annexed to The City of Fredericton and the new territorial
limits of The City of Fredericton are shown on the plan
attached as Schedule 5(2).
5(3) The effective date of the annexation is August 28,
2009.
5(4) The inhabitants of the area referred to in subsection
(2) continue as The City of Fredericton.

My friends we are inhabitants of which have been craftily tricked into believing that we are shareholders in this event called
THE CITY OF FREDERICTON.

And you thought you lived in Fredericton city.!! ha ha

Land marks are still land marks which we can always find.

Marks on paper such as THE CITY OF FREDERICTON will only be found on the papers, as THE CITY OF FREDERICTON is a fiction STRAW MAN. This is true, it is a person which those in the know such as BRAD WOODSIDE use against us for the purpose of fleecing us.

I have to admit all the ripoffs of the people called "inhabitants" as found within the above inclosed incorporation papers has made a very few very rich.

They even have closed door City Council meetings in City Hall to decide what they may do to obtain from another by coercion or intimidation.

Extortion

Lets us not be fooled no longer !
we must call it what it is.

When the Police and or By Law enforcement wrest or wring our (money, information, etc.) from us by violence, intimidation, or abuse of authority, they are acting as agents for THE CITY OF FREDERICTON to obtain by suggestion of force, which is mental abuse and a type of torture, and or threat, or the like.

This is definitely not legal as it requires your consent which is means they are using deception
to illegally take by reason of their office. Because because you are smart enough not to surrender your had earned so that Brad and his gang can celebrate with $50,000 private Parties.

Also interesting is that the celebration took place on Commercially owned private property called U.N.B.

You who support those who control Fredericton city "inhabitants" who are control by the city's largest street gang FREDERICTON POLICE FORCE threw the smiling face and talking head Brad Woodside a party that you paid for.

The party was plain sight of the cowering slaves who cringe in fear as they watch and or listen (since this was apparently a surprise) which is the practice of brad Woodside and his group of psychopaths.

do not think for one second Brad is in charge of anything.... no no no he is only following orders.

THE FIREWORKS WAS DONE FORVTHE UNB AND NOT FOR THE MAYORS BIRTHDAY AND IT WAS IN THE NEWSPAPER

Dork of Cork said...

Nothing will come of this because Frederictonians are pussies and don't dare rock the boat.

Have at it with your corruption ya bunch of monkeys

Only in Fredericton; a supposed 'SMART' City. Yeah smart like dump truck!

BUWAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Charles, that you don't run the truth when you know it makes you a grade-A a$$hole. I see on twitter even the mayor telling you to give it up because now he has to field all the hate calls from your tinfoil hat brigade commentators for something that isn't true. Hope you feel good about it. Ironically this from a man who claims others lie about him and complains loudly about it.

Who you gonna call? said...

Did my comment just not properly post. The fireworks were paid for by Richard Currie in relation to the new building on campus.
