If the City of Fredericton is truly a Green City??? Why not clean the snow from the Fredericton Walking Bridge????
Do you have any idea why a "green" city like Fredericton would refuse to clear the snow from the walking bridge?
The bridge is treacherous now that snow has built up and I wonder how many people are injured trying to cross?
I use the bridge to walk to work every day and I have to be very careful not to sprain an ankle in the ruts.
Do you know who to ask about this?
It makes no sense at all to force people into taking their cars, calling a cab, or grabbing a bus when they can easily walk across the river.
The trail is cleared right up to the bridge deck on either side of the river, but the bridge itself is not.
Green City Fan...
Harvey Sawler Author of the book Frank McKenna: Beyond Politics wasn't too amused with Blogger Charles LeBlanc style of interview!!!
Yes...sometime a video comes out OK but other instances it doesn't!!!
Such as this one!!!
While walking the streets today , someone approached me and said- Down the street Author Harvey Sawler is selling his book on Frank Mckenna.
I told the big Liberal fan that I would go and check it out!!!
She thanked me and left.
If she would have known how it turned out? I believe she would have never told me about the Author being in the area...lol
I decided to do a little video. I never met the guy so it could be interesting.
Well...things didn't go as expected....I pointed at my camera to the Author meaning to tell him that I had the camera on video.
Click below for youtube - < Very short one >
He told me that I should asked permission before doing an interview but I like the off the cuff style of questionings....
As I told Mr.Sawler before leaving- Sometime it works out and sometime it doesn't!!!
In this case it didn't!!!
I quickly left the area.
I didn't even bother taking a picture because I was on private property and could have been landed in trouble.
I believe Mr.Sawler is more comfortable granting interviews with the Irving's media anyway!!!
Maybe next time? I'll have more luck with Frank McKenna himself?
My God????? Especially the same day the final report came out of the three youths killed last summer???
A very bad car accident happened at the bottom of the hill between Dewitt Acres and the Ring Road, on Greenwood Drive last Night. At least 1 person is dead but probably all 3 occupants as the car was a total write-off. Looks like alcohol and high speed were a factor. There was a can of beer on the road and a witness said it came out of the car. The car ended up on a lawn after taking out some trees.
Someone's Christmas just turned tragic.
UPDATE- NOBODY DIED!!!!
T.J. Burke, MLA, Fredericton-Nashwaaksis will be the first Liberal MLA not to re-offer in the next Provincial Election!!!

WHO WILL BE THE FIRST LIBERAL MLA NOT TO RE-OFFER FOR THE NEXT PROVINCIAL ELECTION???

Bottom Line with Randy Mckeen
Bravos this morning for Brian Duplisea, Jordan Graham and Bruce Grandy.
All three have shone a much-needed light on the city of Fredericton's
As head of the city's emergency shelters, Duplisea might be expected to
criticize council's decision to - again - deny his organization funding.
But that doesn't make his criticism any less warranted or council's
hard-heartedness any more justified. Mayor Brad Woodside, with council
firmly in tow, has always maintained the shelters are a social issue and
- as such - the responsibility of the province. And while that may be
correct in a legal or technical sense, it doesn't come close to
addressing government's moral responsibility.
But in his column in yesterday's Daily Gleaner, Duplisea makes a
compelling argument that the city has more than just a moral
responsibility. He points out that what happens in and around the
shelters very much affect public safety and that puts it squarely within
the technical, legal and moral parameters required for municipal money.
What makes it a-hundred times worse is that city councillors would not
even give Duplisea the courtesy of making that argument in person. For
that they should be ashamed. For ignoring Duplisea and the shelters they
should be ashamed. Only three councilors have followed up on their
promise to visit over the last two years. And for cutting the only bus
route that serves Social Assistance clients, they should all be ashamed
- or maybe not all of them. Who knows what goes on behind closed door
Well, thanks to Graham and Grandy, we know what doesn't go on. Both
expressed concern that they were never allowed to look at the
possibility of a wage freeze for non-bargaining city employees. That
would have saved 260-thousand dollars. For a city that declares itself
loathe to increase taxes, that was certainly a discussion that should
have taken place. Why wasn't it? It's not like staff at city hall are
underpaid. It's not like they'd be the only ones asked to bite the
bullet during difficult times. Provincial civil servants and many in the
private sector are among those to accept wage freezes or in some cases,
With Fredericton implementing its first - nudge, nudge, wink, wink - tax
increase in seven years, Duplisea, Graham and Grandy are more than
justified in questioning spending decisions. Here's hoping they'll
continue to ask those questions until they get satisfactory answers.
We offer air time for your point of view...
P.S. I just wish to add my two cents for a mommemt. I must give credit where it's due!!!
I just wish to add the panhandlers in Fredericton are treated very good by the snobs in Fredericton during the Christmas Holidays.
Many of them make around 200 to 300 bucks during Christmas time.
This guy is a little pissed off with the video I took yesterday. He emailed me the picture....
As you may be aware, your blog is my first stop on the Internet daily.
I don't recall ever seeing one of your videos or comments that has infuriated me more than the 'carolers' yesterday. I'm NOT infuriated at YOU. I'm infuriated that the posey sniffing, tree-hugging 'elite' snobs of Fredericton have once again been shown for what they truly are, SNOBS.
As one who was born and raised in 'The City of Broken Down Elm Trees', I had hoped that the 'holier than thou' attitude of SOME Frederictonians had gone away. Apparently that's not the case as demonstrated by your video. In this day and age, that is a very sad commentary on Life in the Capital City. In the dead of winter, whenever I see ANYONE shivering in the cold with their hand out for some change, I have never even thought to ask them what they need the money for. I simply dig in my pocket and pass over whatever I have, within reason.
Whether they buy a pint of rum or a steak sandwich, I do not care as long as whatever they buy, brings even the slightest smile to their faces or adds a small bit of creature comfort to their lives.
Because... There but for the Grace of God, go I.
