Over the 142 years that this nation has been in existence, we have fought numerous wars and conflicts, including two on the world scale, to ensure that we do not give up the rights and freedoms that we enjoy here and that we can continue to pass these down to future generations.
Even as we speak, we have men and women in uniform overseas who have answered the call to arms, many of whom, as we all know, are paying the supreme sacrifice.
Two of the things of which we can take great pride in this country are our flag and our national anthem, both of which should be given the utmost respect. How do we teach our children this kind of respect if we are to say to them that we are not free to sing O Canada in our schools? What absolute disrespect for all of those who fought and died in this nations battles, and those in present and future conflicts.
How spineless of anyone who would bow to the wishes of a scant few who might be offended, at the cost of giving up the traditions of those of us who love this country. Those who would do this should picture in their mind the ramifications of anyone trying to pull this stunt in the United States of America .
Perhaps if these individuals were to have the opportunity to live under the flag of a country the likes of Nazi Germany or survive in a concentration camp, they would be only too pleased to come back home and sing our national anthem whenever and wherever they want to sing it.
Rest assured, that very flag would be flying right here, right now, had we not put a stop to it.

Charles,
I have to get this off my chest after watching the program 20/20 last night about the 2 men that have been sent to jail for 15 and 12 years in Alberta for the killings of the 4 RCMP officers. Although I realize that was devastating for the families of the officers and the community, these other 2 men were used to make the RCMP feel like they had fianlly done something for these comrades of theirs by throwing 2 young men in jail for having known the man that killed the officers. The RCMP is saying that these men knew these officers were going to get shot..............therefore they should have called the cops and warned them after the guy came to their house and threatened them and made one guy him a drive to the killers mothers house.
If this is so, they why is it that the RCMp is not being held accountable for the death of the college professor here in Fredericton, Prof. McKendy. The RCMP in this city knew that he had been threatened by his son in law but yet they did nothing and subsequently the professor was killed in his home and theat killer also killed himself. I don;t see where these two incidences are that much different but the 2 young men are jailed for many years to make the cops feel better for themselves having lost 4 of their men.
My question is..............."WHERE IS THE DAMN JUSTICE IN THIS COUNTRY."
Winners and losers with the Taxation Reform Conference and Workshops When: February 7, 2009 Where: Maritime Forestry Complex 1350 Regent Street, Fredericton Time: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
Organized by New Brunswick Fair Tax Coalition For more information, call: Auguste Gallant, spokesperson for the coalition, 577-4286
Some people are stepping forward telling the media that the R.C.M.P. used excessive force!!! Very scary stuff!!! The poor woman could have been murdered?
This is the only province in Canada that the Government encouraged these acts against New Brunswickers.
The Government ordered our Police Force to destroy evidence and lie in a court of law to convict New Brunswickers.
I confronted Minister of Police Safety...oppss public Safety on this issue.

Then this week, I try to bring this emotional issue to the Snobby Liberal Executives of the riding of Fredericton- Silverwood but these snobs quickly ended the meeting therefore supporting the less fortunate should be jailed!!!!

I went to the Liberal Headquarters yesterday but couldn't locate anyone to talk with about this issue.
Of course once the House opens next month, I'm going to find out for certain if Fascism is officially Ok in New Brunswick.
I will over bring this issue to the Liberal General Meeting in Moncton and I believe the situation will turned very ugly.
Fascism shouldn't be tolerated in today's world!!!

Charles,
People shouldn't take ANYTHING for granted when violent incidents occur. Notice how many times 'allegedly' was used. It even says the knife was only 'alleged'. Either the reporter didn't bother to check with other witnesses, or we simply don't know.
There's no doubt SOMETIMES tazer use is justified, however, there are huge issues involved. We KNOW that tazer use can result in death, and there are issues about how long a person should be tazered, how many times, and at what voltage.
As for this issue, we simply don't know the facts. Was somebody in danger, was the woman acting more chaotically? Or were the police simply tired of talking? There are procedures for stuff like this, and how many times have you heard about murders in barber shops by paring knives?
This is virtually the definition of 'mental illness', and in such cases its been recommended that psychiatrists or therapists accompany police. A recent study in Ontario showed that its not just tazers, but the whole way violent incidents are resolved quite often has resulted in death. In Ontario more deaths were caused by asphyxiation caused by the 'choke hold' than by tazers.
Crazy people were 'brought down' before tazers were around, its not like suddenly violent crime has increased, justifying increased use of police force. And as we've seen in North America, it seems to be easy for police to escalate their use of tazers, which are still banned by most european countries.
Many will of course say 'what else could they do?' but that depends on the specifics. Police have riot gear that makes it virtually impossible to harm a police officer, and a paring knife would be useless. In some cases nets are used, but again, we don't know whether somebody else was in immediate danger. We know the mother and child were locked in the bathroom, its not like you can break down a door with a paring knife, and clearly the woman had only one person in mind. If they spoke to her for fifteen minutes and got near her with a tazer then she couldn't have been too close to a victim.
It's not like the police were there instantly, so we don't know the intent. It only takes a couple of seconds to actually stab, so what exactly was going on?
These are all questions that should be asked and answered during any violent incident, and people shouldn't assume that its being done by the police force. Ideally, most jurisdictions have a public inquiry jury which hears evidence and makes recommendations on police conduct. There's no doubt that sometimes violence is needed to defuse a situation, but every situation is unique and shouldnt' be taken for granted.
