1. SUN, FEB 1: COMMUNITY GATHERING FOR GAZA. Fredericton Palestine Solidarity,
Jews for Just Peace, the Fredericton Islamic Association and Wilmot United
Church invite you to attend a Community Gathering for Gaza at the Wilmot United
Church (corner of King and Carleton) on Sunday, February 1st at 4:00 pm. The
event provides an opportunity for the general public to learn more about the
causes of the latest crisis in the Middle-East while sharing authentic
Asian-Middle-Eastern cuisine. The Community Gathering will also offer music,
speeches, information tables, and a short film screening. Attendance is free

3. TUES, FEB 3: TOXIC TRESPASS WITH INKA MILEWSKI. When: Tuesday, Feb. 3.
Where: Conserver House, 180 St. John St. Short film screening at 6:30pm -- 100%
Cotton: Made in India. Did you know that the average life expectancy of a
cotton farmer in India is 35 years odl? Feature film at 7:00 pm: Toxic
Trespass. In Toxic Trespass, filmmaker Barri Cohen launches an investigation
into the effects of the chemical soup around us. She starts with her
10-year-old daughter, whose blood carries carcinogens like benzene and the
long-banned DDT. Then, Cohen heads out to Windsor and Sarnia: Canadian toxic
hotspots, with startling clusters of deadly diseases. Films will be followed by
discussion with Inka Milewski, Health Watch Director at the Conservation
Council. Her current work focuses on analyzing cancer data and pollution in

5. FEB 10: FREDERICTON PALESTINE SOLIDARITY MEETING. Join those taking action
in solidarity with Palestine. All welcome. When: 7:00pm, Monday, Feb. 10.

6. FEB 13: VAGINA MONOLOGUES. The Vagina Monologues production will be held on
Friday, Feb. 13 at 8 p.m. in Room 102, Tilley Hall. Tickets are $7 minimum for
students and $10 minimum for general public. 90 per cent of the show's proceeds
are going to Fredericton Sexual Assault Crisis Centre; the other 10 per cent to
the global campaign in the Democratic Republic of Congo. For more information

7. FEB 13: CINEMA POLITICA PRESENTS A JIHAD FOR LOVE. 7:00 PM, Friday, Feb. 13
at Conserver House, 180 St. John St. Muslim gay filmmaker Parvez Sharma risks
personal safety to tell the stories of queer muslims all over the world. In
Western media, the concept of ‘jihad’ is often narrowly equated with holy
war. But Jihad also has a deeper meaning, its literal Arabic being
‘struggle’ or ‘to strive in the path of God’. In this film we meet
several characters engaged in their personal Jihad’s for love. Free film &

8. FEB 14: 100 MILE WINTER WARMER OPEN HOUSE. Come in from the cold and join
the Conservation Council in celebrating Valentine’s Day with our 100- Mile
Winter Warmer Open House. Find out what New Brunswick's environmental group is
up to and meet its staff over a bowl of hot, homemade, local soup and biscuits.
